Albania Economy
The Albanian economy is currently growing around 6% per annum.
This economic growth is partly fueled by increased interest from foreign companies who choose to set up in Albanian and create jobs. Since both corporation and income taxes were slashed to 10% we expect the FDI trend to continue.
The EU has pumped billions of Euros into Albania in various forms of assistance to improve government instituations, fight corruption, improve health standards and massively upgrade Albania's infrastructure. This has naturally led to, for example, new roads and power stations and increased economic output.
Remittances from Albanians living abroad also form a large supportive base to the Albanian economy.
Migration is high. Tirana in particular has seen its population treble in the last 15 years and trend which is continuing and makes the average age of Tirana relatively young (ie of working age).
With increased economic stabilisation, continued FDI, prospects of further EU money and EU membership (Albania is already a member of NATO since 2008), improved infrastructure and population growth, it is fairly sure that the Albanian economy will continue to grow and its people prosper.
