The Bulgarian property market was billed as one of the best property investment opportunities in the world over the last 5 years. The coastal and ski resorts, in particular, became heavily oversold and are now suffering greatly. Sofia suffered to a lesser extent. The huge boom in Bulgarian property has naturally been followed by a bust. In the lead up to EU entry (ie 2004-2007) property prices in Bulgaria boomed and were some of the highest in the world. Since 2007 the Bulgarian property market has come crashing down, with prices falls of over 30% per annum. Bulgaria Property Tax
Bulgaria has a fairly low tax regime with many of the main taxes at only 10%. When it comes to buying property the taxes are relatively low at 2% though VAT on new builds is 20%.Read more about Bulgaria property tax.
Bulgaria Mortgages
Bulgarian banks have toughened up their lending criteria in the wake of global financial crisis. Typically 70-80% LTV is obtainable, 20-30 year terms with current rates from 7-8%+. Bulgaria Rental Market
